The Wabash Valley College Foundation will host its annual Crystal Ball on Saturday, Feb. 15, in the Mabel A. Courter Youth Center Anderson Building. This event has become “the social event of the year” in the community and promises to be an elegant evening of exquisite dining, and entertainment by comedian/magician, Mike Bliss. Social Hour will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. and an evening of entertainment from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.
No need to worry about what to give your sweetheart for Valentine’s Day; take your sweetheart to the Crystal Ball! Tickets are $125 per couple, and single tickets are also available. Tickets are available for purchase in the Administration/Foundation building on the WVC campus or by calling Katie Hinderliter at 618-263-5537. Tickets may also be purchased from any Foundation director. In order to allow time for seating arrangements, it is requested that tickets be purchased by Monday, Feb. 10.
By offering the community the opportunity to attend “the social event of the year,” the Foundation has raised over $300,000 to help with WVC projects through the years. The Foundation’s contributions to the capital development of the college include: scholarships, purchase of the site for the WVC campus, Applied Arts building, Student Center, bookstore, physical plant, indoor pool, tennis courts, Valley Gardens dorms, International building, Machine Shop Technology building, Advanced Technology Center, performing arts, biology lab renovation, chemistry lab renovation, library materials and general building improvements.
The Foundation Board also includes a Faculty Representative and Arts Council Representative as well as the President of the College. There are 11 Lifetime Associate Directors. The Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month at noon in Main Hall Room 101. Officers are: President: Karin Hodgson, Vice-President: Mike Gill, Secretary: Louise Acree, Treasurer: Robin Dean, Past President: Rod Rodriguez. Other Directors include: Kate Ackerman, Toni Brines, Leann Burton, Rob Coleman, Patsy Dean, Glenn Decker, Tom Dersch, Jane Evans, Trudy Fowler, Cassandra Goldman, Bob Hocking, Jim Homan, Brandon Kight, Donna Kline, Don Price, Brooke Slater, Rachael Smith, Phil Summers, Lyle Weber. Ex-Officio members are: WVC President Dr. Matt Fowler, Faculty Representative Brenda Phegley, Arts Council Representative which rotates among Jerry Bayne, Jim Cox, Bill Easton, and Marcia Woodcock. Lifetime Associate Directors are: Becky Andrews, William Hackler III, David Hurlbut, James L. Kieffer, Mary Ruth Kieffer, Steve Lovellette, Janice Raibley, Peggy Seybold, Leta Sue Williams, Elizabeth Wonsetler, and Mary Lynn Young.
