Harms' Probation Revoked & Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison On Domestic Battery Charge

Cassandra A. Goldman, Wabash County State's Attorney, reports that David R. Harms, a 31-year old Mt. Carmel, Illinois man, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Circuit Judge Christopher L. Weber in Wabash County Circuit Court.

State's Attorney Goldman advises that the Defendant was charged July 17, 2017, with Domestic Battery, A Class 4 Felony. On August 14, 2017 Rayborn was convicted of the offense and placed on probation. A petition to revoke probation was filed by State's Attorney Goldman on July 19, 2019. The Defendant's probation was revoked on September 3, 2019 and Mr. Harms was sentenced to 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by four years of mandatory supervised release (parole).

FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF OFFENSE:

That on the 15th day of July, 2017, in Wabash County, Illinois, the Defendant, DAVID R. HARMS, committed the offense of DOMESTIC BATTERY, in that said Defendant, without legal justification, knowingly made physical contact of an insulting nature to (NAME REDACTED), with whom the Defendant has a dating relationship, in that said Defendant put (NAME REDACTED) in a head lock and struck her on the top of the head, and, at the time of this offense, Defendant had previously been convicted of a violation of 720 ILCS 5/12-4 on May 19, 2008 in Wabash County, Illinois, 720 ILCS 5/12-3.2(a)(2). A CLASS 4 FELONY
