WHERE: Northbound near 3740 N. Cottage Hill Road (Near Olney, IL)
WHEN: 09/28/2019, 6:47 p.m.
VEHICLES: UNIT 1 – Red 1990 GMC 1500 Sierra
DRIVER: UNIT 1- Dustin J. Kermicle, 31, Olney, IL
PASSENGERS: Mendi L. Williams, 42, Bridgeport, IL
Cody A. Cessna, 31, Bridgeport, IL
CHARGES: Driver of Unit 1: DUI-Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Failure to Wear a Seat belt, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.
Passengers of Unit 1: Charges pending investigation.
TRANSPORTS: Unit 1 Driver was transported Carle Richland Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Cessna and Williams were both ejected from the vehicle and were transported to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN by helicopter.
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigative details indicate Unit 1 was traveling Northbound near 3740 N. Cottage Hill Road at a high rate of speed. Unit 1 skidded out of control and ran off of the roadway to the left. The rear of Unit 1 struck a ditch/embankment and then overturned onto the roadway. Unit 1 came to final rest facing Northbound overturned on its top.
