The Mt. Carmel Elks Lodge #715 is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarships and the Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards. The ENF awards $2.44 million annually in MVS scholarships to 500 high school seniors nationwide. The first-and second-place awards are among the largest scholarships provided by any major fraternal or service organization. The awards are as follows: First Place: Two $50,000 scholarships ($12,500 per year); Second Place: Two $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 per year); Third Place: Two $30,000 scholarships ($7,500 per year); 14-$20,000 scholarships ($7,000 per year); and 480-$4,000 scholarships ($1,000 per year).
Most Valuable Student Scholars are outstanding students who are at or near the top of their classes, active in their schools and communities, and recognized as leaders by their peers. Any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen may apply for a Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Applications will be judged on: Scholarship, Leadership, Financial Need. Applications are available at enf.elks.org/mvs and must be submitted online and are not submitted to the local Elks Lodge. Application deadline is November 5, 2019. The selection of winners begins at the local Lodge level and continues through District, State, and National judging.
Established in 1998, the ENF Legacy Awards program offers 300 college scholarships worth $4,000 each to the children and grandchildren of Elks members. College-bound high school seniors who are the children or grandchildren of dues-paying Elks are welcome to apply. Applicants compete against other children and grandchildren from the state of their sponsoring Elks lodge. They are judged on the core values of the Elks National Foundation: Knowledge, Charity, Community Service, Integrity. Applications are available online and must be submitted online on or before January 31, 2020, at 11:59 a.m. Central Time.
