Thanks to a Mt. Carmel woman’s efforts, hundreds of teachers are receiving school supply donations from all over. Last year, Valerie Anderson started the project known as Community Classrooms 618. According to Anderson, teachers sometime spend thousands of dollars of their own money properly equipping their classrooms for the new school year. She explains how the donation process works…

Even though the project suggests only teachers in the 6-1-8 area code can participate, Anderson said that’s not the case as 408 teachers in 78 counties and 21 states have signed up.
