City Looking At Solving Traffic Issues

City of Mt. Carmel officials are looking around town and deciding whether some stop signs need to be added, all yield signs need eliminated, and whether parking on one side of the street on Poplar Court needs to be banned.

City Clerk Rudy Witsman said the first request was for new stop signs to be placed on East 4th Street at Golden Aces Way. On Poplar Court, the narrow street is causing concern that there’s not enough room for a fire truck to get through if one was needed when cars are parked on both sides of the street. But, Commissioner Justin Dulgar said some of the residents don’t have driveways and have to park on the street not leaving enough space if parking was banned on one side of the street. Officials are examining both issues and look to make a decision at their regular meeting next Monday evening.
