JIM PFEISTER, REPRESENTING WABASH COUNTY VISITORS AND TOURISM BOARD APPEARED BEFORE WABASH COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MONDAY NIGHT, ASKING FOR ADDITIONAL MONEY FOR WABASH COUNTY’S ROOTS ‘N QUE EVENT SET FOR JUNE 21ST AND 22ND. THE BOARD ORIGINALLY RECOMMENDED AND THE COUNTY APPROVED $3,000 FROM THE HOTEL AND MOTEL TAX FUND FOR THE REVISED EVENT, FORMERLY RIBBERFEST.
PFEISTER TOLD THE BOARD HE PETITIONED HIS BOARD AND THEY UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED AN ADDITIONAL TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THE EVENT----NOTING HE TOLD ROOTS CHAIRMAN TERRY BECKERMAN THE $5,000 TOTAL WOULD BE A ONE-TIME DEAL.
COMMISSIONERS TIM HOCKING AND ROB DEAN EXPRESSED CONCERNS FOR THE UNUSUAL HIGHER DONATION. THEN THE COMMISSIONERS APPROVED IT UNANIMOUSLY. BECKERMAN ADDRESED THE BOARD AND SAID THEY HAVE MANY EVENTS ALREADY PLANNED AND A ‘RAIN BACKUP’ PLAN THAT WOULD MOVE THE MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT TO MT. CARMEL GRADE SCHOOL.
