Two Albion Residents Injured In Wayne County Crash

ISP DISTRICT 19 TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 19:

WHAT: Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE: Illinois Route 15 at Wayne County Road 2700E (Wayne County)

WHEN: 04/20/2019, at approximately 2:40 pm

VEHICLES: White, 2001, Dodge Ram Truck

Black, 2005, Chrysler 300

DRIVERS: Steve R. Jackson, age 29, of Golden Gate, Illinois (Dodge Ram)

Kathleen C. Klug, age 52, of Albion, Illinois (Chrysler 300)

PASSENGERS: Kacey A. Klug, age 25, of Albion, Illinois (Chrysler 300)

CAUSE: Failure to Yield

TRANSPORTS: Both Kathleen C. Klug and Kacey A. Klug were transported from the crash scene via ambulance to an area hospital.

ROAD CONDITIONS: Open

PRELIMINARY: According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of the 2001 Dodge Ram truck, Steven R. Jackson, was northbound on Wayne County Road 2700E, when he failed to yield at the stop intersection with Illinois Route 15. Jackson proceeded west onto Illinois Route 15 and collided with a 2005 Chrysler 300, driven by Kathleen C. Klug, who was also westbound on Illinois Route 15. Following the impact, Klug’s vehicle left the roadway and came to rest partially submerged in a flooded ditch. Kathleen Klug, along with her passenger Kacey A. Klug, were transported from the crash scene by ambulance to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne County Ambulance Service, Fairfield Rural Fire Department, Edwards County Ambulance Service, and Rick’s Towing Service assisted ISP District 19 at the crash scene.

CHARGES: Citations issued to Steven R. Jackson included Failure to Yield at a Stop Intersection, Operating a Motor Vehicle using an Electronic Communication Device, and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.

All subjects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
