Crum said no decision has been made, but one solution to make up for the lost money from the elimination of certain court fees is to increase fines. Currently, Crum said state’s attorney Cassandra Goldman rarely seeks maximum fines be imposed in cases. Crum said the information on the changes to the court fee structure has been forwarded to Goldman and Judge William Hudson. Sheriff Derek Morgan said he is also keeping close tabs on legislation that may mean less income for his office too.
