The Mt. Carmel City Council last night voted to delay action on a nepotism policy until after the April 2nd election.
During discussion of the proposal that would prohibit family members from working for the city, Mayor Bill Hudson said he had reservations about the policy…
According to Hudson, nepotism has worked well in the past for the city…
The council discussed eliminating part-time employees from the policy and to require the hiring of any family member be approved by the city council.
City Attorney Kelli Storckman will work on the changes and present it again at the April 22nd meeting. If approved, the nepotism policy would only affect new hires and not those currently employed by the city.
