Wabash General Hospital receives the 2019 Outstanding Patient Experience AwardTM for 4 years in a row (2016-2019), recognizing our dedication and focus on patients’ perspectives of their care in the hospital. The Healthgrades assessment emphasizes the patient’s overall rating and recommendation to family and friends, based on criteria ranging from cleanliness and noise levels, to factors such as care team communication.
WGH’s President & CEO, Karissa Turner, stated, “Wabash General Hospital is very transparent with how customers rate the care received at our hospital. I encourage patients to research providers before selecting the right fit. We continuously monitor feedback and make improvements to the care being delivered on our campus along with our outreach locations. Providing a superior patient experience is always at the forefront of our decision making. The Wabash General Hospital Family values teamwork and understands that everyone plays a vital role in making sure we are delivering the best care to the communities we serve. Every staff member brings a special talent to the team that we build upon. When you have a strong culture of teamwork the patients benefit. This is what has led to the success and recognition of our organization. I want to thank our staff for their commitment and thank you to our patients for providing the feedback needed to make WGH a better place.”
“I’m very pleased, but not surprised, to see that WGH has received the Outstanding Patient Experience AwardTM. Wabash General’s commitment to service and excellent care is evident in all facets of our organization. Every employee at WGH knows we operate with the goals of safe, quality, and compassionate care for our patients and community. Recognitions, such as Outstanding Patient Experience, would not be possible without the excellent leadership and teamwork at WGH, nor without the feedback for our patients. Although, it is nice to be recognized, I know we will continue to strive to improve the hospital and clinic for our community and region,” said WGH’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Thomas Selby.
Of all the decisions you make in your life, your decisions related to health care are among the most important. The right choice can truly be the difference between life and death.
Katheryn McWhirter, Vice President of Quality at Wabash General Hospital, stated, “A great patient experience relies on teamwork, communication, compassion, high quality care, and a human connection. It is greatly influenced here at Wabash General Hospital by our ability to relate to our patients as a person not just as a medical condition or a room number.”
At Wabash General Hospital, we work to exceed your expectations for quality care. We continually improve care by:
· Advancing techniques and services in the areas of primary care, orthopaedics, sports medicine, general surgery, radiology, laboratory, and more;
· Comparing our results with other hospitals' results to gauge our performance;
· Designing a system-wide culture of safety to reduce medical errors and ensure safe care
· Hiring the best medical professionals and fostering an environment of continuing education
· Listening to our patients' feedback and making changes to improve patient satisfaction
As a result, we are confident that we provide excellent care to every patient. We want you to be confident in the care you receive, as well.
Healthgrades evaluated performance by applying a scoring methodology to 9 patient experience measures, using data collected from a 32-question experience survey from the hospital’s own patients. The survey questions focus on patients’ perspectives of their care in the hospital, ranging from cleanliness and noise levels in patient rooms to factors such as provider communication and
responsiveness to patients’ needs. The measures also include whether a patient would recommend the hospital to friends or family.
