Thompson Not To Seek Re-Election To County Board

The filing period for candidates running in the 2020 election begins next Monday and another local officeholder has announced they will not seek re-election. County Commissioner Robie Thompson tells WSJD that will not run for a second 6-year term next year. Thompson was elected to the county board in 2014.

His announcement comes on the heels of state’s attorney Cassandra Goldman also saying she won’t seek another term next year.

In addition to the county board seat and state’s attorney, other local seats up for election next year include coroner and circuit clerk.

The filing period for the March 17th primary begins next Monday the 25th and continues through December 2nd.

On a regional level, Congressman John Shimkus and State Senator Dale Righter have also said they won’t run for re-election next year.
