On 11/15/19 Mt. Carmel Police observed Lisa C. Shearer, age 59, of Mt. Carmel, operating a red Ford Explorer southbound on Walnut Street from 3rd Street. The officer knew Shearer had a suspended driver’s license and attempted to stop her. Shearer failed to stop, disregarding the officer’s emergency lights and sirens that were activated, and continued to drive into Indiana. Shearer eventually stopped her vehicle near East Mt. Carmel. Shearer was detained until Gibson County authorities arrived and took custody of Shearer. Shearer was taken to the Gibson County Jail for Driving on a Suspended Driver’s License and will face charges in Illinois for Driving While License Suspended and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude.
