Mt. Carmel Man Sentenced To 8 Years In DOC For Super 8 Shooting

A 52 year old Mt. Carmel man has been sentenced to 8 year in prison in connection to a September shooting at the Super 8 motel on West 9th Street. Michael Lancaster was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and possession of a weapon by a felon after he fired a gun inside the Super 8 in the direction of another motel visitor who told police . Following the shooting in the early morning hours of September 6th, Lancaster was apprehended outside the motel without incident. He had a loaded 9 millimeter handgun in his possession when he was taken into custody.

State’s Attorney Cassandra Goldman said Lancaster was sentenced to 8 years on the aggravated discharge of a firearm charge and 5 years on the possession of a weapon by a felon charge. The sentences will run concurrently with Lancaster ordered to serve at lest 85% of the prison time.
