Swift Sentenced To 4 Years In Prison After Violating Conditional Discharge On Forgery Conviction

Cassandra A. Goldman, Wabash County State's Attorney, reports that Shawn Swift, a 38-year old Mt. Carmel, Illinois man, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Circuit Judge Christopher L. Weber in Wabash County Circuit Court.

State's Attorney Goldman advises that the Defendant was charged April 10, 2018 with Forgery, a Class 3 Felony. On October 1, 2018, Mr. Swift was placed on Conditional Discharge for 1 year. After admitting to a violation of his conditional discharge on October 15, 2019, Mr. Swift was sentenced to 4 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by one year of mandatory supervised release (parole).

FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF OFFENSE:

That on the 27th day March, 2018, in Wabash County, Illinois, the Defendant, SHAWN SWIFT, committed the offense of FORGERY, in that said Defendant, with the intent to defraud, knowingly delivered a document knowing it to have been made to defraud another, (VICTIM REDACTED), in that it was purported to have been made by another, The County Federal Credit Union, said document being a check numbered 126451, drawn on the TRICORP Federal Credit Union, dated 3/13/2018, payable to Shawn Swift in the amount of $2,300.00, in violation of 720 ILCS 5/17-3(a)(2). A CLASS 3 FELONY
