Fugate Sentenced To Two Years In Prison

Cassandra A. Goldman, Wabash County State's Attorney, reports that Thomas Fugate, a 29-year old Mt. Carmel, Illinois man, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Circuit Judge Christopher L. Weber in Wabash County Circuit Court.

State's Attorney Goldman advises that the Defendant was charged February 15, 2018, with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony. On February 20, 2018 Mr. Fugate was placed on probation for the offense. However a Petition to Revoke that probation was filed on March 21, 2018. On September 25, 2018, the Defendant's probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by one year of mandatory supervised release (parole).

FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF OFFENSE:

That on the 14th day of February, 2018, in Wabash County, Illinois the Defendant, THOMAS E. FUGATE, committed the offense of POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE, in that said Defendant knowingly and unlawfully had in his possession less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine, other than as authorized in the Methamphetamine Control and Community Protection Act, in violation of 720 ILCS 646/60(a). A CLASS 3 FELONY
