Even though the heat may have kept the crowd down, the patriotic spirit was alive and well during this morning's Memorial Day Service at Veterans Park in Mt. Carmel. The guest speaker was Ret. USAF Col. Jim Summers. Summers has been a frequent speaker at Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies in Wabash County over the years. But, he said this would be his last as a resident of Mt. Carmel as he and his wife Jackie are moving to Bardstown, Kentucky next month.
