Sponsored by Your Wabash County Museum
Illinois is celebrating its Bicentennial with a year- long celebration taking place between December 3, 2017 and December 3, 2018. During this time Illinois Bicentennial will celebrate all that is great in Illinois: our history, our people and our communities.
To commemorate our state’s 200th birthday the Wabash County Museum is having a contest to decorate chairs. The museum will even supply the chair for you to use! Just drop in to the Museum on Sundays, Tuesdays or Thursdays between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m.to pick up your chair. All you have to do is decorate your chair with a historical theme of your choice that relates to the state of Illinois. You may choose any medium of decoration such as: paint, fabrics, drawings, collage, etc.
This contest begins immediately. To be judged you must bring your decorated chair to the museum. All who return their chair for judging will receive a $2 bill. Judging will be during the week of July 4th. The winner in each category, for the best decorated chair with a historical theme, pertaining to the state of Illinois, will receive a $50 bill. Chairs will be judged on theme, creativity and artistic endeavor.
The categories are:
