02/14/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 34 year old Gavin Roberts of Mt. Carmel on a charge of criminal trespass to a residence and criminal damage to property. At approximately 3:30 pm, Mt. Carmel Police were notified of a male subject running through the backyard of homes in the area of Michael Avenue. A caller advised the male subject was acting strange and had thrown his coat in a dumpster along the roadway. Police then received a call that a male subject had tried to enter the back of a residence on Lisa Lane. The subject was stopped when confronted by the home owner. Police were told the male subject then ran south from the Lisa Lane residence. Police located Roberts in the 1200 block of Plum Street. The homeowner on Lisa Lane identified Roberts as the person on their back porch. Police located the coat Roberts was said to be wearing along with a ski mask and a glove. Roberts was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he is being held pending the posting of bond. Police were assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.
