On 11/29/2018 at approximately 9:00 pm, a Mt. Carmel Police Officer stopped a 1995 Ford Ranger operated by 51 year old Robert P. Wells of Wheatland, Indiana. During the traffic stop the arresting officer requested the assistance of the MCPD K-9. K-9 Ace conducted a free air narcotics sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Ace indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search was conducted and police recovered a number of drug paraphernalia items along with US currency and approximately 48 grams of a white substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Wells was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with possession of methamphetamine. Wells is being held pending the posting of bond.
