Woman Killed In Southern Illinois Wreck

ISP DISTRICT 19 TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT


The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 19:  
 
WHAT:   Fatal Traffic Crash

WHERE:    Illinois Route 34, just north of Webber Cemetery Road (Saline County) 

WHEN:   01/19/2018, at approximately 1:38 pm

VEHICLES:   Grey, 2004, Ford Taurus       White, 1998, International Straight Truck
 
DRIVERS:   Danielle P. Steiner, Age 20, of Thompsonville, Illinois (Ford / Deceased)    

Marshall W. Cissna, Age 47, of Nortonville, Kentucky (International) 

PASSENGERS:  None

CAUSE:   Remains under investigation. 

TRANSPORTS:  None

ROAD CONDITIONS: Open  

PRELIMINARY:  According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of the 2004 Ford passenger car, Danielle P. Steiner, was northbound on Illinois Route 34, just north of Webber Cemetery Road, when for unknown reasons she crossed the center line into the southbound lane.  A 1998 International truck, driven by Marshall W. Cissna, was southbound on Illinois Route 34 and was unable to avoid the Ford passenger car, striking it on the driver’s side door.  

Steiner was pronounced deceased at the scene of the traffic crash by the Saline County Coroner’s Office.  Cissna did not receive any injuries as a result of the traffic crash. 
     
    An ISP Crash Reconstruction Officer (CRO) has been assigned to assist with the crash investigation.  ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Saline County Ambulance Service, Saline County Coroner’s Office, Galatia Police Department, Galatia Fire/Rescue, Jones’ Towing Service, and Vernell’s Towing Service.     
CHARGES:   None
 
 All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
