Aces Wrestlers Clinch Opening Night Win With Late Pin

From Coach Andrew Cheesman:

The Golden Aces Wrestlers commenced their season with a significant victory in their home dual against the Oblong Panthers. In a thrilling conclusion, the Aces found themselves trailing by four team points, with senior Aaron Sanor stepping onto the mat for the final match. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Sanor overcame the odds to pin Oblong's Owen Griffin, clinching the victory for the Aces. The team's determination was evident in their performance, and they are set to compete in a multi-dual at Vincennes on Saturday, November 30. Best of luck to the Aces!

Lady Aces Fall In Regional Title Game

The Lady Aces Volleyball team traveled to Carmi Thursday night for the regional final.

Carmi had a very aggressive attack game, but Mt. Carmel played good defense, making Carmi earn it.  After some very long Volleys, the Lady Bulldogs took the win with set scores of 17-25, 16-25. It was a fun game to watch, as Mt. Carmel fought hard to the very end.  The two seniors for Mt. Carmel Sarah McCorkle and Madi Stevens kept the momentum going. Madi was able to put up 9 kills against a solid Carmi defense and had 11 digs.  Sarah had an ace, 7 digs, and 13 assists. These two girls will be greatly missed by the program with Madi being a 4 year varsity starter and Sarah a 3 year. They have both contributed tremendously. Sarah was able to reach the 1000 career assists ending the season with 1192 assists. Madi had a career of total of 697 kills.  Excellent job to both of them.

Stats for the  rest of the team include Jayla Johnson 9 digs, 1 kill, Maycee Randall, 1 dig, 2 block kills, 3 kills, Kyleigh Smith 1 kill,  Lyla Keepes, 6 digs, 1 kill, Tenley Davis 8 digs.

The team had a successful winning season with a conference record of 6-1 and

final record of 20-16. The coaches all agree it was a very fun and fast season.
