Lady Aces Win Nailbiter At Casey
The Mt. Carmel Lady Aces Volleyball team traveled to Casey Westfield Thursday night for more conference play.
The Varsity match was very close, point for point play. Casey ran a quick offense and played good defense, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Aces. Madison Stevens had a big night with another double, double, 23 digs and 11 kills. Maycee Randall was a dominating force with her net play. Sarah McCorkle was doing a great job connecting with her attackers on many quick attacks. The Aces won the first set 28-26, but the second set with only 4 left to score our senior setter Sarah McCorkle went down with a possible ankle injury. This had the team rattled and Casey came back to win the set 26-28.
The girls banded together with extreme focus trying to grunt out the last set. Mattie Armstrong stepped in to set. The team started with strong momentum, and took the set in convincing style 25-10 to win the match.
Sarah McCorkle, 3 digs, 2 kills, 16 assists, Madi Stevens 23 digs, 11 kills, Maycee Randall, 4 aces, 9 digs. 5 block kills, 9 kills, Kyleigh Smith 4 digs, 7 kills, Lyla Keepes, 1 ace. 11 digs, 3 kills, Tenley Davis 13 digs, 2 assists, Mattie Armstrong 1 ace, 7 digs, 13 assists.
The JV match was back and forth errors on both side of the net. The Aces took the first set 25-23, but fell the second 19-25.
They won the third set quickly by cleaning up their play and talking more.
Mattie Armstrong 3 digs, 6 assists, 5 kills, Kinley Harris 3 aces, 5 digs, 1 kill, 5 assist, Leah Lewis 9 digs, Gracee Haggard 2 digs, Avery Coston 1 dig, 2 block kills, 4 kill, Zoie Randall 1 kill, Alivia Peach 3 aces, 14 digs, Mylee 9 digs, Mercedes Dillard 8 digs, 1 kill, Journey Loudermilk 2 digs, 2 kills, Kate Andrews 1 dig.

WVC ATHLETIC TRAINING CENTER EXPECTED TO OPEN SUMMER 2025
Wabash Valley College is thrilled to announce the upcoming addition of the Athletic Training Center, highly anticipated athletic training facility set to open in the summer of 2025. This 8,500-square-foot building will provide a brand-new space for our Warrior athletes to train and prepare for their seasons.
Athletic Training Center will feature three locker rooms, specifically designed to be the new home for our Women’s Soccer, Softball, and Baseball teams. These locker rooms will offer plenty of space for the teams to gear up, relax, and bond.
One of the most exciting features of the building is the large, netted practice area. This space, with its synthetic turf flooring, will be flexible and adaptable to the needs of different sports. The area can be divided into four separate batting or pitching cages, or it can be opened up to create a larger space for a wide range of drills and conditioning exercises.
This facility will be a game-changer for our athletic programs, providing much-needed training space for our Warrior athletes. We're looking forward to seeing it all come together and can't wait for its completion in Summer 2025!
Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to opening The Athletic Training Center!

Lady Aces' March To LIC Title Continues With Win At Robinson
The Mt. Carmel Lady Aces Volleyball team traveled to Robinson for another conference matchup. The Aces were excited and looking for a win after beating beaten by Robinson the last 3 years.
The Aces started strong spreading kills out between 5 attackers and playing gritty defense. They commanded the first set, and Robinson only crept in a bit closer at the end. Aces won the set 25-17.
The second set was close back and forth play until 21-21, next the Aces got the side out and kept the serve with big kills by Maycee Randall and then an Ace by Sarah McCorkle to win 21-25. Madi Stevens had a big night with a double, double, 20 digs and 12 kills.
This puts the team in good position for another conference title with Newton being the biggest opponent standing in the way. They will face Newton at home on October 8th. A great night to come watch this exciting team. Stats for the night, Sarah McCorkle, 1 ace, 8 digs, 2 kills, 18 assists, Madi Stevens 2 aces, 20 digs, 12 kills, Jayla Johnson 14 digs, 1 kill, Maycee Randall,1 dig, 3 block kills, 6 kills, Kyleigh Smith 2 kills, 1 dig. The JV team had a hard time getting momentum going the first set.
They struggled in serve receive and dropped the set 15-25, the second set they also got behind early with the same struggle, but I was glad to see some fight In the girls, cutting the deficit in half before dropping the second one 20-25. Player stats Mattie Armstrong 12 digs, 2 assists, 2 kills, Kinley Harris 1 ace, 6 digs, 4 assist Leah Lewis 10 digs, 2 kills, Gracee Haggard 3 kills, Avery Coston 1 dig, 1 block, Zoie Randall 1 dig, 3 kills, 1 block, Alivia Peach 2 aces 4 digs, 2 kills, Mylee 1 ace, 8 digs, 1 assist, Mercedes Dillard 1 ace, 1 dig, 1 assist.
