Golden Aces Win 1st Regional Title Since 2010; Beat Fairfield 3-2 In 8 Innings

Levi Banks’ RBI single in the bottom of the 8th drove home Jaxon Browning from second base to give the Aces the championship at Dee White Field.

Mt. Carmel will play DuQuoin at 6:30pm Wednesday night in the Benton Sectional.

McCORKLE WINS SECTIONAL HIGH JUMP, LEWIS 3RD IN DISCUS

Mt. Carmel Lady Ace, Sarah McCorkle, won the Charleston 2A Sectional high jump on Thursday with a jump of 1.54 meters (5’0.5”). McCorkle out jumped 22 other competitors to qualify for the 2A Illinois State Championship to be held at Eastern Illinois University starting May 16th.

Teammate, Leah Lewis, placed 3rd in the discus with a personal best throw of 32.88 meters (107’10”). Both Lady Aces earned sectional medals for their efforts leading the Lady Aces to an 11th place tie with Charleston in the team standings.

LADY ACES 3RD AT HARRISBURG

The Lady Aces Track team, with a score of 100 points, placed 3rd in the Harrisburg Invitational on Monday. The Lady Aces were led by a one / two finish in high jump by Sarah McCorkle (5’1”) and Madi Stevens (4’10”), both personal bests. McCorkle (32’0) and Stevens (30’3) also combined for a 1st and 4th place finish in the triple jump.

Aces Keep LIC Title Hopes Alive With Win Over Marshall

From Coach Tyler Browning: Golden Aces (15-8 overall, 5-2 conference) win their final conference game against Marshall by a score of 10-1 on Senior Night. Thank you to everyone who came out to support these boys and our team on a special night.

Banks was good on the bump again tonight going a complete game, surrendering only 1 run. The Aces defense played an error-free ballgame. Browning, Will, Gillihan, Sloss, and Mounts all had multiple hits for the Aces.

Back in action tomorrow as the Aces travel to Flora, first pitch set for 4:30 p.m.

LADY ACES 5TH AT LIC



The Lady Aces Track team placed 5th in The Little Illini Conference meet at Newton on Wednesday.

The Lady Aces were led by Leah Lewis with a first place finish in the discus and Sarah McCorkle with two second place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.

Aces Battle For 10 Inning Win At Robinson

From Coach Tyler Browning: Golden Aces (14-7 overall, 4-2 conference) with another nice road conference W over Robinson 5-2 final score in extras. Mounts was good on the mound and Gillihan closed it out strong.

Gillihan hit a 2-run HR in the 1st to get the Aces on the board. Quiet bats finally came alive in extra innings, as Coston drove in the go-ahead run with a double, followed by a Sloss single, a Will single, and a Mounts sac-fly to give the Aces the lead for good.

Banks Dominant As Aces Win On Road At Paris

From Coach Tyler Browning: Golden Aces (13-7 overall, 3-2 conference) get a nice road conference win tonight over Paris. Banksy was solid on the bump going a 7-inning CG. A couple defensive mistakes but overall solid defensive performance all around making several nice plays.
