Jason Miller finished first in the 3200 and 1600 runs with times of 12:34 and 5:30.  Jacob Wall placed 4th in the 1600 with a time of 6:20.  Miller also placed third in the shot 28-9.

Anthony Bleyer won the Pole Vault (7-0) and won the 800 (2:20).

Shane Weir won the 200 with a time of 23.22 and Jimmy Lin placed 4th (25.12)  Weir also placed 2nd in the 100 (11.15).

Blayne Sisson won the long jump (19-2),  and Lin placed 2nd in LJ (16-6).  Sisson also placed 4th in the 100 (11.75).

Rhett Andrews won the high jump (5-6).

Xzavien Williams second placed in the 300 intermediate hurdles 53.56.

Gabe Cirnay placed 3rd in the 400 1:05.

Treyvon Mithchell 4th 1:14.26.

Wyatt Alka placed third in the discus 63-10 and 4th in the shot 27-8.

Deadline Set To Order Plaza Brick

Time is running out to purchase a brick to be placed in the new plaza at Riverview Stadium. The plaza is part of Phase 2 of the stadium project that includes the construction of a new multi-purpose building. Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer told the school board that the deadline to reserve a plaza brick is May 26th…

School Board Hires New Girls Basketball & Wrestling Coaches At MCHS

The Wabash District 348 school board hired two high school coaches at their meeting last week.

Matt McCarty was hired as the new coach of the Lady Aces basketball team taking over for Tim Willis who retired at the end of this past season.

The board also hired Andrew Cheesman as Aces wrestling coach to take over for Logan Crum who stepped down at the end of this past season. The hiring will make Andrew the third Cheesman to lead the Aces wrestling program following his father Pat and brother Michael.

Also hired by the school board were Tracie Guard as high school yearbook sponsor; Jena Berberich as junior high social worker; and Laura Bisogni as elementary school prevention initiative 0 to 3 parent educator/home visitor. The board also approved the list of summer school personnel.

Aces Boys' Track Finishes 7th At Invite

Mt. Carmel placed 7th at the Coach Cork Invitational Mt. Carmel placed 7th out of 12 teams.

Placing for Mt. Carmel were:

Shain Weir placed 3rd in the 200 meter dash 23.4 and 4th place in the 100 with a time of 11.5

Jason Miller placed 3rd in the 3200 run at 12:05 and placed 5th in the 1600 with a time of 5:42.

The F/S 4x400 placed third with a time of 4:03.  (Trace Sisson, Cameron Kolb, Ronnie Berberich, Rhett Andrews)

4x100 relay placed 5th with a time of 48.10 (Weir, Jimmy Lin, Andrews, Trace Sisson

4x200 relay placed 5th with a time of 1:41.8 (Sisson, Weir, Lin, and Xavien Williams)

Rhett Andrews placed 6th in the High Jump with a jump of 5’ 8”.

MT. CARMEL LADY ACES TRACK 4TH AT CARMI

A short handed MCHS Lady Aces Track Team traveled to Carmi Wednesday and placed 4th in the 12 team Carmi Invitational. Despite missing several athletes due to prior commitments, a double victory in the high jump and triple jump by Eden Wankel and a strong showing by the Lady Aces relay teams propelled the Lady Aces to their 4th place finish.

McCorkle and Wankel Pace Lady Aces

The Mt. Carmel Lady Aces Track team traveled to Robinson on Friday for the Sam R. Bennett Invitational.  The Lady Aces placed 8th in the 16 team field, which featured some of the top teams in south/ central Illinois.

Sarah McCorkle led the Lady Aces with a second place finish in the long jump (15’0”) and anchored the 3rd place 4X100 relay team and the 6th place 4x200 relay team. Additionally, she placed 7th in the 100 meter dash (13.40).

Eden Wankel also scored in every event she participated. She placed 3rd in the long jump (14’11.5”), 4th in the triple jump (31’10”), 5th in the high jump (4’10”) and a member of the 4x200 relay team.

Craig Snow elevated to Associate Head Coach at UE

University of Evansville head men's basketball coach David Ragland has announced that Craig Snow has been elevated to Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach for the Purple Aces.
 
"Craig has been extremely helpful to our program as we continue to strive to create a competitive product with our group," Ragland exclaimed.  "His experience at this level has been instrumental to the growth of our players as well as our coaching staff."
 
Snow completed his first season on staff at his alma mater.  He remains one of the top 10 scorers in program history, completing his career with 1,530 points.  A member of the 1998-99 Missouri Valley Conference Championship team, Snow led the Purple Aces in both scoring and rebounding in each of his final two seasons as a player. 
 
An outstanding coaching career was highlighted by five seasons as the head coach at New Mexico Highlands as well as two tenures on the staff at New Mexico.

Shane Weir placed first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.20 seconds he also placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.10 seconds.

Rhett Andrews placed third in the high jump with a jump of 6-0.

The 4x100 relay placed 5th with a time of 46.9 and the 4x200 relay placed 4th with a time of 1:41.6.  Both teams were Jimmy Lin, Andrews, Trace Sisson and Weir.

The 4x400 relay team placed 6th with a time of 4:05.3. That team comprised of Anthony Bleyer, Andrews, Miller, and Gabe Cirunay.
