The Mt. Carmel Lady Aces Track team traveled to Robinson on Friday for the Sam R. Bennett Invitational. The Lady Aces placed 8th in the 16 team field, which featured some of the top teams in south/ central Illinois.
Sarah McCorkle led the Lady Aces with a second place finish in the long jump (15’0”) and anchored the 3rd place 4X100 relay team and the 6th place 4x200 relay team. Additionally, she placed 7th in the 100 meter dash (13.40).
Eden Wankel also scored in every event she participated. She placed 3rd in the long jump (14’11.5”), 4th in the triple jump (31’10”), 5th in the high jump (4’10”) and a member of the 4x200 relay team.

Craig Snow elevated to Associate Head Coach at UE
University of Evansville head men's basketball coach David Ragland has announced that Craig Snow has been elevated to Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach for the Purple Aces.
"Craig has been extremely helpful to our program as we continue to strive to create a competitive product with our group," Ragland exclaimed. "His experience at this level has been instrumental to the growth of our players as well as our coaching staff."
Snow completed his first season on staff at his alma mater. He remains one of the top 10 scorers in program history, completing his career with 1,530 points. A member of the 1998-99 Missouri Valley Conference Championship team, Snow led the Purple Aces in both scoring and rebounding in each of his final two seasons as a player.
An outstanding coaching career was highlighted by five seasons as the head coach at New Mexico Highlands as well as two tenures on the staff at New Mexico.

Shane Weir placed first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.20 seconds he also placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.10 seconds.
Rhett Andrews placed third in the high jump with a jump of 6-0.
Jason Miller placed 5th in the 3200 run with a time of 12:32
The 4x100 relay placed 5th with a time of 46.9 and the 4x200 relay placed 4th with a time of 1:41.6. Both teams were Jimmy Lin, Andrews, Trace Sisson and Weir.
The 4x400 relay team placed 6th with a time of 4:05.3. That team comprised of Anthony Bleyer, Andrews, Miller, and Gabe Cirunay.

Mayor Signs Proclamation For National Tennis Month
Today, Mayor Joe Judge signed a proclamation for National Tennis Month. Mt. Carmel Tennis Association will be hosting two events in the month of May at the Wabash Valley College Tennis Courts. The dates are May 3 for adults/college students and May 6 for kids ages 5-17.

WSJD Inks Deal To Continue Illini Affiliation Through 2026
A new three-year agreement has been reached between WSJD-FM 100.5 in Mt. Carmel, IL/Princeton, IN and Learfield Sports’ Fighting Illini Sports Properties. The agreement will allow WSJD to continue bringing fans University of Illinois football and basketball…an affiliation that began when WSJD went on the air in 1995.
Kevin Madden, WSJD General Manager said, “We’ve been extremely proud to be a Fighting Illini affiliate for almost 30 years and we’re excited to continue that partnership through 2026 and beyond”.
WSJD-FM 100.5 carries Illini football and basketball along with “The Illini Today” every weekday morning between August and April. The Illinois football season starts their 2023 season on September 2nd hosting Toledo.

Eden Wankel led the Lady Aces with a double victory in the high jump (4’8”) and triple jump (30’9.25”) and a third place finish in the long jump (14’0.75”).
Sarah McCorkle was the Lady Aces other big winner, taking a first in the long jump (16’1.25”), second in the 200 meters (29.1) and third in the 100 meters (13.5).
