By the time the Golden Aces play their next home game on September 30th, fans will see quite a bit of changes to Riverview Stadium from what they did on opening night this past Friday. At last night’s District #348 school board meeting, superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer said lines on the new eight lane track were to have started being painted today in which is expected to take two days to complete. Bleyer also said fencing around the track and new turf field will be completed this week and the new bleachers will be in place for Newton fans in time for the next home game on the 30th.

Alivia Peach had the hot hand on Saturday, tallying four hits and leading Mt. Carmel Jr. Golden Aces to a 22-3 victory over CWC Jr. High Lady Bullpups. Peach singled in the second, singled in the second, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth.
Lyla Keepes earned the victory in the circle for Mt. Carmel Jr. Golden Aces. The pitcher went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out five and walking one.
Haleigh Prosise went one inning allowed three runs, one hit, walked three with strikeout.
Evie Sellers went one inning allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking zero.

MILLER MEDALS AT OLNEY
MCHS senior, Jason Miller, finished 31st at Saturday’s Olney Invitational to earn a top 50 medal. 17 schools from across south/ central Illinois competed in the meet held at Olney Central College. Miller completed the 3 mile course in a time of 18:38. Also competing for the Aces were Anthony Bleyer 58th (19:56), Jacob Wall 105th (23:03) and Xzavien Williams 121st (24:56).

On today’s Morning Show, members of the MCHS Sports Boosters Hall of Fame Committee revealed the final four members of the Hall of Fame’s inaugural class.
The players announced today were Gil Mains, Ollie Shoaff, Archie Dees, and Don Liddle.
The Hall of Fame inductees will be honored during halftime of the September 30th football game against Newton. A reception at Stymie’s will follow the game.

MILLER FIRST AT LAWRENCEVILLE
The MCHS Cross Country team traveled to Lawrenceville on Tuesday for a Triangular meet with Lawrenceville/Red Hill coop and Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville coop. Senior, Jason Miller, was the race winner with a time of 19:52 over the 3 mile course run at Lawrenceville City Park. Also finishing for the Aces were Anthony Bleyer 5th (21:02), Jacob Wall 7th (23:52) and Xzavien Williams 11th(26:17).
Hallie Courter was the lone Lady Ace finisher in the girls race with a second place finish in a time of 26:26. No team scores were kept for both races. The Aces next meet is the Olney Invite on September 17th.

Even though the Lady Aces played hard and a lot of the games going to deuce, Mt. Carmel fell to Newton Monday 7-2. Their next match is scheduled in Robinson on Thursday, Sept 8.

Davis, Gates, & Garrett Latest MCHS Athletic Hall Of Fame Inductees
On Tuesday’s Morning Show, members of the Aces Sports Boosters Hall of Fame committee joined us to announce the latest inductees into the inaugural class of the MCHS Athletic Hall of Fame.
The coaches are Cliff Garrett, coach of the 1927 State Championship team; Larry Davis, head coach of the 1981 State Championship football team; and longtime Aces assistant football coach and wrestling coach John Gates.
The three join the teams announced last week to be inducted: 1927 boys basketball, 1981 football, and 2010 state champion boys golf.
Next Tuesday, we’ll find out the 4 athletes to be inducted in the initial class of 10.

Jason Miller and Jayla Smith led the MCHS Cross Country contingent with top 30 finishes at Thursday’s Alan Hopewell Invite hosted by Gibson Southern.
18 schools competed in the invitational run over a 5k course. MCHS did not have enough finishers to register team scores.
In the boys junior/senior race, Jason Miller finished 21st with a career best time of 18:39. Also competing for the Aces were Anthony Bleyer 46th (20:58), Jacob Wall 69th (25:07), Xzavien Williams and Caleb Carwile.
In the girls junior/senior race race Jayla Smith finished 27th (26:04). Also competing for the Lady Aces in the freshman/sophomore race was Hallie Courter and Molly Hagerty.
