Mt. Carmel Man Jailed Following Monday Incident

On 4/03/23, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Christopher J. Perry, age 37, of Mt. Carmel, for Disorderly Conduct and Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer. Police were called to the area of the 100 block of E 9th Street regarding Perry screaming, yelling and kicking trash cans which disturbed several individuals nearby. One subject signed a complaint against Perry leading to his arrest in the area of 6th & Market. Upon doing so, Perry resisted the arrest by repeatedly jerking away as the officer secured him in handcuffs and also while he attempted to place him in his squad car. Perry was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he has been charged and held pending the posting of bond.


IECC Board Approves Demolition Of Crisp Building

The Board of Trustees of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges District No. 529 met Monday night, April 3rd at Lincoln Trail College, Robinson, Illinois to address an emergency situation that has resulted from the tornado that moved through the southern portion of the city of Robinson on Friday, March 31, 2023. Chairman Carter began the meeting asking for a moment of silence for the lost lives and those impacted by the tornado.

The Harry Crisp Building, home to Lincoln Trail’s Broadband Telecom program, was damaged beyond repair. In its current condition, the building represents a potential danger to those who may enter.

In accordance with ILCS 5/3-29, The Board authorized Chancellor Gower to secure the LTC Crisp Building site and take emergency actions necessary to demolish the building and bring the site into a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition.

No other action was taken at this meeting. The next regular meeting of the Board of Trustees will be Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 6:15 p.m. at Lincoln Trail College

Carmi Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Mt. Carmel Man


A Mt. Carmel man was arrested after a traffic stop in Carmi Sunday night.  Carmi police say 21 year old Kyle J. Windle was stopped for a tail-light violation. Windle was found to have a suspended driver's license and cannabis and an open bottle of alcohol was discovered in the vehicle. Windle is charged with driving suspended, possession of cannabis, illegal transportation of alcohol and was given a written warning for the tail-light infraction. He was taken to the White County Jail where he posted bond and was released.

Meth Warrant Sends Albion Man To Jail

On 04.01.2023 acting on a tip the Wabash County Sheriff's Office responded to 109 N. Church St. Bellmont, IL reference a subject with an outstanding warrant. Once on scene the homeowner claimed the subject was not present. Further investigation found that 47 year old Eric E. VanMatre of Albion, IL was in fact hiding within the residence. VanMatre had an active warrant for possession of methamphetamine, and a $2,500 cash bond. VanMatre was transferred to the custody of the Edwards Co. Sheriff. 

Albion Man Going Back To Prison Following Arrest In Bellmont

On 03.31.23 IDOC Parole contacted the Wabash County Sheriff's Office reference a parolee who was outside of his GPS parameters. IDOC had issued a no bond parole warrant for the offender. The Sheriff's Office responded to 109 N. Church St. Bellmont, IL and made contact with parolee, Robert W. Pritchard (27 from Albion, IL). Pritchard was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wabash County Jail. Pritchard is currently awaiting transport back to an IDOC facility.

Lincoln Memorial Bridge set to re-open to traffic

KNOX COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the re-opening of the Lincoln Memorial Bridge.

The National Parks Service has informed INDOT that their project on the Lincoln Memorial Bridge will be complete on or around April 7. Following the completion of that project, INDOT will perform maintenance on bridge joints the following week. This work is expected to take two to three days to complete. Once complete, the Lincoln Memorial Bridge will re-open to traffic. INDOT expects this re-opening to occur on or around April 14th. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

Meth Charge Nets Mt. Carmel Man 4 Years In Prison

Kelli Storckman, Wabash County State’s Attorney, reports that Dennis Windle, a 48-year old Mt. Carmel, Illinois man, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Circuit Judge William C. Hudson in Wabash County Circuit Court. State’s Attorney Storckman advises that the Defendant was charged February 9, 2022 with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony. On March 27, 2023, Mr. Windle was sentenced to 4 years in the Department of Corrections, to be followed by twelve (12) months discretionary Parole.

FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF OFFENSE:

That on the 4th day of February, 2022, in Wabash County, Illinois the Defendant, DENNIS M.WINDLE, committed the offense of POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE, in that said Defendant knowingly and unlawfully had in his possession less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine, other than as authorized in the Methamphetamine Control and Community Protection Act, in violation of 720 ILCS 646/60(a). A CLASS 3 FELONY
