WHAT:                         One Unit Crash with Injury

WHERE:                   US Route 45 at Small Street, Saline County.

WHEN:                      May 22, 2021 at 12:21 p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1 – Black 2014 Nissan Pathfinder

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – Denise F. Thorne, 59-year-old female of Eldorado, IL – Transported to a local area hospital with injuries

PASSENGER:           Unit 1 – John S. Thorne, 66-year-old male of Eldorado, IL – Transported to a local area hospital with injuries

 

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling southbound in the right lane on US Route 45. Unit 1 approached the intersection of US Route 45 at Small Street.  The driver of Unit 1 failed to stop at the red light and entered the intersection. At that time, another vehicle was turning west from US Route 45 onto Small Street. The driver of Unit 1 avoided striking the other vehicle, traveled southwest across the intersection, and came to rest in the Kroger's east parking lot.

 

CHARGES:               The driver of Unit 1 was issued a citation for Disobeying a Traffic Control Device and Disobeying a Traffic Control Device for Designated Lanes.

Sumner Woman Injured In Lawrenceville Wreck

WHERE:                   4th Street southbound North of Collins Ave (Lawrenceville, IL)

WHEN:                      May 22, 2021 at 10:55 p.m.

VEHICLES:              Unit 1 – Black 2012 GMC Terrain

                                    Unit 2 – White 2005 Chevrolet Silverado (parked, unoccupied)

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1 – Maryann Nusz, 34-year-old female from Sumner, Illinois – (transported to a local area Hospital with non-life threating injuries)      

 

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary crash investigation indicates Unit 1 was traveling Southbound on 4th Street near Collins Ave., when for unknown reasons Unit 1 ran off of the roadway to the left.  Unit 2 was parked unoccupied in a driveway on 4th Street, when it was struck by Unit 1.  Due to the impact of Unit 1, Unit 2 spun into the Northside of the house.  Unit 1 then, struck the Westside of the house causing extensive damage to the front porch. 

 

CHARGES:               The driver of Unit 1 was charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to avoid a crash and Driving Under the Influence

Car Vs. Deer Sends One To Hospital

WHAT:                         One Unit Traffic Crash with Injury

WHERE:                   Interstate 70 eastbound at milepost 115, near Greenup Illinois, Cumberland County

WHEN:                      May 23, 2021 at 5:06 a.m.

VEHICLES:              Unit 1 – Black 2017 Nissan Altima  

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1 – Na Shanti L. Jones, 38-year-old female from Madison, Illinois (transported to a local area Hospital with non-life threating injuries)

PASSENGER:           Unit 1 – 16-year-old male from Madison, Illinois (uninjured)

                                    Unit 1 – 5-year-old female of Madison, Illinois (uninjured)     

 

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary crash investigation indicates Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 at approximately milepost 115 when a deer attempted to cross to roadway in front of Unit 1. The front end of Unit 1 struck the deer, as result of the collision the airbags deployed. The driver of Unit 1 was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Haubstadt man arrested on battery charge

On May 20, 2021, at 7:39 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of a battery that had already occurred. Deputy Bryce Jutzi was dispatched to the 200 block of East State Road 68 to investigate the incident. Upon arriving at the residence Deputy Jutzi conducted an investigation into the incident and spoke with all the parties that were involved. At the conclusion of his investigation he placed 28-year-old Dorean Thorpe of Haubstadt into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the jail Mr. Thorpe was charged with Battery. He has since posted a $1500 bond.

Assisting Deputy Jutzi in his investigation was Deputy Zach Lienemann and Haubstadt Officer Joshua Hoover.

                                    Unit 2 – Black 2004 Honda Shadow Motorcycle

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – Noah Thillet, 30-year-old male of Shawneetown, IL

                                    Unit 2 – Riley J. Harper, 19-year-old male of Harrisburg, IL (Transported to a local area hospital with injuries)

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was turning southbound onto Illinois 142 from Bixler Road. Unit 2 was heading northbound on Illinois 142. Unit 1 failed to yield the right of way and was struck by Unit 2. The driver of Unit 2 was transported to a local area hospital with injuries. 

 

CHARGES:               The driver of Unit 1 was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way.  The driver of Unit 2 was issued a citation for Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

Missouri Motorist Injured In I-64 Crash

WHERE:                   Interstate 64 westbound at milepost 108, Wayne County

WHEN:                      May 23, 2021 at 12:40 p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1 – Silver Toyota Rav4

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – Rachel G. Paul, 21-year-old female of Richmond, MO

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling westbound on Interstate 64 at milepost 108 in the passing lane.  Unit one went off the roadway and struck a guardrail. After striking the guardrail the vehicle traveled down an embankment before coming to final rest in the wooded area of the median. The driver of Unit 1 was able to get out of the vehicle before it caught on fire. The driver of Unit 1 was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

CHARGES:               The driver of Unit 1 was issued a citation for Improper Lane Usage.

Princeton man arrested for driving on a suspended license

On May 22, 2021, at 9:24 p.m. Gibson County Deputy Bryce Jutzi conducted a traffic stop on a Older Chevy Truck for failing to maintain its lane of travel on State Road 64 near County Road 400 East.  Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Jutzi identified the driver as 26-year-old Daniel Decker of Princeton.  During a roadside investigation Deputy Jutzi ran Mr. Decker through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle and discovered that his operator’s license was suspended on a prior driving while suspended conviction.  Deputy Jutzi then placed Mr. Decker into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Driving While Suspended Prior.  He remains in custody on a $650 bond

ISP INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MULTIPLE CHARGES IN MOUND CITY INCIDENT

Mound City, IL – On Thursday, May 20, 2021, the Office of Pulaski County State’s Attorney Lisa Casper charged Kendall L.D. Mcelmurry, a 24-year-old male of Mound City, IL with Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer (Class 2 Felony), Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer (Class 4 Felony), Obstructing Justice (Class 4 Felony), and Resisting a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor); Demarko K. Ransom, a 26-year-old male of Mound City, IL with Obstructing Justice in Furtherance of Gang Activity (Class 3 Felony), Obstructing Justice (Class 4 Felony), Obstructing a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor), Resisting a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor); and Andre L. Mcelmurry, a 21-year-old male of Mound City, IL with Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer (Class 2 Felony) and Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer (Class 4 Felony).  

These charges resulted from an incident that occurred on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at approximately 10:00 p.m., where the Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) – Zone 7 was requested by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department to lead the investigation into a shooting which had occurred in the 700 block of Pearl Street, Mound City, IL involving a Pulaski County Deputy. 

Bond for Kendall L.D. Mcelmurry on the above charges was set at $100,000,10% to apply.  Bond for Demarko K. Ransom on the above charges was set at $50,000,10% to apply.  Bond for Andre L. Mcelmurry on the above charges was set at $100,000,10% to apply.  All three have posted bond and been released. 

The incident was jointly investigated by the ISP DCI – Zone 7, ISP District 22 Patrol, Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, and the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department.  If anyone has any information on the events that occurred, they can contact the ISP DCI - Zone 7 at 618-542-2171, extension 1207.  The investigation is open and on-going and no further information will be disseminated at this time.

One Injured In Thursday Fayette County Crash

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

WHAT:                         Two Unit Traffic Crash with Injury

WHERE:                   United States (US) Route 51 near Fayette County Road (C.R.) 2000N, approximately 4 miles north of Vandalia, Fayette County

WHEN:                      May 20, 2021 at 12:11 p.m.

VEHICLES:              Unit 1 – Silver 2015 Chevrolet Silverado

                                    Unit 2 – White 2016 GMC Sierra 1500

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1 – Randal E. Howell, a 28-year-old male from Ramsey, IL – Uninjured

                                    Unit 2 – Ronald D. Seals, a 49-year-old male of Centralia, IL – Transported via ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling southbound on US Rt. 51 near Fayette C.R. 2000N when it crossed the center line striking the northbound Unit 2.  Unit 1 fled the scene and the driver was later taken into custody by Fayette County Deputies and IL Secretary of State Police for this and other unrelated charges stemming from incidents prior to the crash. 

No further information will be disseminated at this time by Illinois State Police in this open and on-going investigation.  For additional information concerning the charges unrelated to this crash, contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office or Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office.

CHARGES:               The driver of Unit 1 was charged with Improper Lane Usage and Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Traffic Crash.

Clarksville man charged in George Rogers Clark Home Site Investigation and other area Fires

An arrest has been made and charges filed in the investigation of several fires, which included the destruction of the cabin at the George Rogers Clark Home Site that occurred late Thursday afternoon.

After an extensive coordinated investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers and other state and local agencies, Indiana Conservation Officer’s obtained arrest and search warrants for the suspect and his residence.

At 4:24 p.m. Friday afternoon, detectives and officers with Clarksville Police Department arrested Jason D. Fosse, 36, of Clarksville. Fosse was booked into the Clark County jail on a charge of Arson, a Level 4 Felony.

Agencies assisting in the investigation included the Clarksville Police Department, the Clarksville Fire Department Fire Marshall’s Office, the Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office, and the Indiana State Police.
