Wabash County Board Extends Disaster Proclamation Another 45 Days

Meeting in a recessed session on Monday, the Wabash County Commissioners extended the county’s disaster proclamation for 45 more days.

Monday’s action was an extension of the original proclamation issued last Monday.

Story from April 6th: Now that Wabash County has its’ first confirmed case of the coronavirus, the County has taken the first step towards a potential disaster declaration by adopting a proclamation confirming the virus is now here. That now puts on the record the costs associated with mitigating the pandemic, with the hopes of recouping possible state and/or federal money that may be needed later on. Commissioners were quick to point out that the measure does not change any measures the county has already taken to fight the spread of the virus.

Here’s the proclamation:

MCHS Prom Postponed

A MEMO FROM THE MCHS PROM COMMITTEE:

The Mt. Carmel High School Prom has officially been postponed from its original date of May 2, 2020. This decision comes regardless of any updates to the Governor’s stay-at-home directive that currently runs through the month of April. We have every intention of holding the dance and associated events at a later date, likely in June or July. When the decision is made, there will be ample time between then and the new date to make preparations including getting fitted for a tuxedo, ordering flowers, and other tasks that require lead time, communication, and planning.
