Shopko Announces Estimated Closing Date For Mt. Carmel Location
April 7th. That’s the estimated closing date for the Shopko store in Mt. Carmel. On Wednesday, the Shopko corporate office in Green Bay, Wisconsin released an updated list of closings that added another 139 stores to the list. Along with the list was an estimated date that each location would close with April 7th being the date listed for Mt. Carmel. Last month, Shopko filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy citing excessive debt and ongoing competitive pressure as the reasons for seeking protection from creditors. Shopko has secured $480 million in funding from lenders hoping that will be enough to continue operating. No plans have been announced for the future of the West 9th Street location once Shopko closes in April.
