Man Killed In Fayette County Incident

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12
 
WHAT:  Fatal Crash  
 
WHERE:   East 1160 Road at North 2135 Road in Loogootee (Fayette County) 
 
WHEN:  2/1/18 at 5:41 pm
 
VEHICLES:  Unit #1 -  Black 97 Plymouth Voyager   
 
DRIVER:  Unit #1 – Bruce H. Snow, 38, Farina               PASSENGERS:  
 
CHARGES:  Pending Investigation
 
PRELIMINARY:   Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on North 2135 Road from East 1160 Road in Loogootee when a pedestrian (Joshua D. Wilson, 43, of Pana) grabbed ahold of the partial open driver side window of Unit 1.  Wilson fell off the side of Unit 1 and was ran over.  Wilson was transported by ambulance to Fayette County Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Talking On Cell Phone & Driving Leads To Arrest

01/31/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 37 year old Kiera M. Smith of Mt. Carmel after she was stopped for talking on her cell phone while driving.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that Smith was wanted on a Lawrence County warrant charging her with fraud/deceptive practice and a Knox County warrant for fraud/deceptive practice.  Smith was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of bond.

Mt. Carmel Man Jailed On FTA Warrant

 

01/31/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 35 year old Ryan P. Bearden of Mt. Carmel after police were informed he was at 1010 Parrish Street in Mt. Carmel.  Police knew Bearden was wanted on a Wabash County failure to appear warrant and a Wabash County body attachment.  Police went to the residence and placed Bearden under arrest.  Bearden is being held in the Wabash County Jail pending the posting of $550.00 cash.

MCPD Arrests Princeton Man On Multiple Charges

01/30/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 21 year old William J. Devers of Princeton after police stopped him for a traffic violation.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that Devers was driving on a suspended license.  During the arrest of Devers it is reported that he resisted arrest.  Devers was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with driving while suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and resisting a peace officer.  Devers was held pending the posting of bond.

Mathis Arrested On Meth & Criminal Damage Charges

01/29/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 26 year old Zachary A. Mathis of Mt. Carmel after police were called to the 600 block of Vine Street reference a disturbance.  The complainant called the police and stated that a male subject was smashing the windows out of her vehicle.  Police made contact with Mathis and in doing so they located three plastic bags of suspected methamphetamine.  Mathis was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with felony criminal damage to property and possession of methamphetamine. It is unknown why Mathis was smashing the windows of the victim’s vehicle.  Mathis is being held pending the posting of $2000.00 cash.   

Mt. Carmel Man Arrested On Stolen Property Charge

01/29/2018-A joint operation between the Mt. Carmel Police Department and the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the recovery of over $20,000 in stolen items.  On 01/23/2017, Mt. Carmel Police responded to a residential burglary in the 200 block of E. 6th Street.  The complainant reported a number of items stolen to include jewelry and other personal belongings.  Mt. Carmel Police had the crime scene processed by the Illinois State Police where evidence was collected.  Wabash County Sheriff J.D. Morgan was able to obtain information concerning the burglary.  At approximately 7:45 pm the Mt. Carmel Police and the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of 9th and Cherry Street placing the suspect in custody.  The suspect was identified as 31 year old Andrew M. Lagow of Mt. Carmel.  Lagow was wanted on a $200.00 failure to appear warrant out of Wabash County but after his arrest he was also charged with possession of stolen property in excess of $10,000.  Lagow’s new bond has been set at $10,200 cash.

840 Road Is Reopened...Except For School Buses

Road District Commissioner Tim Glick tells WSJD that 840 Road which was closed earlier this week because of deep ruts being cut into the soft surface, has been reopened...with one exception. Glick said school buses are still prohibited from using the road. In addition, Glick said the road continues to be under the county wide 5 ton load limit that is still in effect.

Owensboro man arrested for driving without ever having received a license

On January 29, 2018, at 12:56 a.m. Gibons County Deputy Ben Kiesel conducted a traffic stop on a Black 2010 Acura for speeding on US 41 in Fort Branch, Indiana. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Kiesel identified the driver as 21 year old Raul Garcia of Owensboro, Kentucky. During a roadside investigation it was discovered that Mr. Garcia did not possess a valid operator’s license. At that point Mr. Garcia was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Never Receiving a Valid License. He has since posted a $900 bond. 

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
