Schuler Re-Elected District #348 Board President One Final Time
Tim Schuler has been re-elected to a two-year term as the president of the Wabash District #348 school board. But, his re-election didn’t come without a moment of pause during a special board meeting Thursday morning.
The special meeting was to certify the results of the April 2nd election that saw Janice Alka, Neil Earnest, and Ryan Peter re-elected to four-year terms.
After the oaths of office were administered, nominations were opened for board president at which point Theresa Hocking nominated Alka to be board president. After initially agreeing to run for board president, Alka withdrew her name after Peter nominated Schuler for re-election and Schuler expressed his willingness to serve the remaining two years of his term and then step away from the board. Schuler then was re-elected to the board unanimously.
Earnest was re-elected as vice-president and Alka was re-elected board secretary.
The board also set meeting times and dates which will be the third Monday of each month at 7pm. The only exception being in January and February when the board will meet the following day on Tuesday. Previously, the board pushed those meetings back a full week to the following Monday. But, upon the suggestion of Superintendent Dr. Chuck Bleyer, the change was made because of the need for bills to be approved for payment in a more timely manner.
