Naming Ceremony Planned Oct. 28th For Pickleball Complex
The Mount Carmel Pickleball Club will be holding a facility naming ceremony for the Pickleball complex on October 28th @ 10:00 am. The ceremony will be held at Mount Carmel City Park (700 Park Rd) at the courts under the pavilion. The program will last approximately 20 minutes. The public is encouraged to attend.
The construction project includes six state-of-the-art courts, tournament specified lighting, individual court fencing, 2,000+ square foot multi-purpose lighted pavilion, commercial flagpole, windscreens, sod/seeding and landscaping. The new facility rests on acreage provided by the city of Mount Carmel within the city park along with adjacent parking.
"The project that began with discussions in 2019 could not have been completed without the terrific support of our giving community. As one can see on our donor’s board at the facility, it has taken many folks in this effort. In addition, the Board of Directors wanted to honor the significant contribution from the Bolden Family Trust," said Rick Andrews, Mount Carmel Pickleball Club President.
In conjunction with the dedication ceremony, the Mount Carmel Pickleball Club will hold a club member and guest tournament during the weekend. All “active members” are encouraged to contact tournament director Steve Burton to register. Those who would like to participate need to do so by the registration deadline. The deadline to register is October 26th. There will be men’s and women’s doubles (Saturday 10/28) as well as mixed double matches (Sunday 10/29). Teams will be determined by blind draw on October 26th. This will be a fun event for members that has a $20 entry fee. Participants and fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
