Traffic stop results in arrest of Princeton man on OWI charge
On January 18, 2025 AT 8:42 p.m. Gibson County Deputy Wes Baumgart conducted a traffic stop on a Gold 2005 Toyota Camry for failure to stop at a stop sign at Main and Mulberry Street in Princeton. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Baumgart identified the driver as 54 year old David Martin of Princeton. During a roadside investigation Deputy Baumgart detected clues that Mr. Martin may be under the influence of an unknown intoxicant. At that point he began a roadside OWI investigation that resulted in Mr. Martin being taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
Assisting Deputy Baumgart in his investigation were Deputies Loren Barchett, Eric Powell, and U.B. Smith. Also assisting in this investigation was Princeton Officers Jeremy Robb and Bryce Jutzi.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
