On 3/15/24, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Jeffery K. Dill, age 64, of Mt. Carmel for Aggravated Assault following an incident at the Mt. Carmel Dollar General on 3rd Street.  Officers were called to the scene after it was alleged that Dill waved a hand saw at one of the store managers when they told him to quit cutting down trees on store property.  Dill reportedly claimed he could do what he wanted as he began waving the saw back and forth while the employee backed away.  Police later located Dill on Railroad Street where he was placed under arrest.  Dill was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and held pending a pre-trial release determination.  MCPD was assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.
