FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH 

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police Troop 8

WHAT:                      Three Vehicle Fatal Crash

WHERE:                   Illinois Route 4 just north of Old State Route 4, Madison County

WHEN:                      September 15, 2023 at 3:44 a.m.

VEHICLES:              Unit 1 – 2024 Red Buick Verano

                                    Unit 2 – 2017 Gray Ford Escape

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1 – Chase Bowles, 21-year-old male from Alton, IL – Deceased.

                                    Unit 2 – Emily K. Morton, 21-year old female from Nixa, MO – Deceased.

PASSENGER:           Unit 2 – Jayda N. Fulkerson, 21-year-old female from Marine, IL – Deceased.

PRELIMINARY:      The preliminary investigation indicates the following: Unit 1 was traveling southbound on IL Route 4 just north of Old State Route 4 in Madison County. Unit 2 was traveling northbound at the same location. For unknown reasons, Unit 1 crossed the center line causing a head on collision with Unit 2. All occupants were pronounced deceased on scene.  No further information is available at this time.
