The Mt. Carmel City Council on Monday heard the first reading of the tax levy for 2023 real estate taxes payable in 2024. Judge said the increase comes after the city adopted a negative increase tax levy two years ago and a flat tax levy last year. He said this year’s increase will amount to just a total of $14,000, when split among all city taxpayers represents a very minimal increase.
