On 9/6/2022, Mt. Carmel Police arrested David E. Dicus, age 62, of Olney, Illinois, for Driving on a Revoked Driver’s License and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Dicus was stopped for a traffic violation when the officer learned of the revoked license. The officer requested the assistance of Ofc. Hopper and K-9 Eleven. Once Ofc. Hopper arrived, a free air narcotics sniff to the exterior of the vehicle was conducted, resulting in Eleven alerting to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search led to the discovery of a glass smoking device with residue, cut straws with white residue, and a scale. These items are commonly utilized in the use of methamphetamine. Dicus was charged and released on a Notice to Appear.
