ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT

WHAT:                      Single Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash    

WHERE:                   Interstate 64 westbound at milepost 103, near Wayne City, Wayne County

WHEN:                      May 16, 2022 at approximately 5:15 p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1- 2012 White Freightliner Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – Brian D. Jones, 41-year-old male from Georgetown, OH – Deceased

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling westbound in a construction zone on Interstate 64 at milepost 103, near Wayne City, Wayne County. For unknown reasons, the driver of Unit 1 struck the concrete bridge barrier multiple times, then left the roadway to the right.  Unit 1 struck a tree and overturned. The driver of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased on scene by the Wayne County Coroner.  The roadway was closed during the crash investigation and was opened at approximately 4:30 a.m. This is an open and on-going investigation and no further information is available at this time
