ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT  

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by

Illinois State Police District 12 

  WHAT:                      Fatal Traffic Crash     

  WHERE:                   Ingraham Lane east of Sylvite Drive, Clay County

 WHEN:                      April 27, 2022 at approximately 1:01 p.m.

  VEHICLES:              Unit 1- 2005 White Chevrolet Silverado

 Unit 2- 2020 White Ford Cargo Van 

 DRIVERS:                 Unit 1- 36-year-old male from Olney, IL – Deceased                                           

                                    Unit 2- Gregory S. Stewart, 34-yaer-old male from Benton, IL – Transported via Air Evac to an area hospital with serious injuries.

 PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Ingraham Lane just east of Sylvite Drive in Clay County. Unit 2 was traveling westbound at the same location. For unknown reasons, Unit 1 crossed the center line and struck Unit 2 head on. The driver of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased on scene by the Clay County Coroner.
