ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT  

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by

Illinois State Police District 12 

WHAT:                      Single Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   Interstate 70 eastbound at milepost 89, Effingham County

WHEN:                      Feb. 1, 2022 at approximately 2:02 a.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1 – Black 2011 GMC Sierra

DRIVER:                   Unit 1- Everett B. Williams, 62-year-old male from Mattoon, IL – Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 near milepost 89 in Effingham County. For unknown reasons, Unit 1 driver left the roadway to the right and struck a guardrail and came to rest in the right lane of traffic.  Unit 1 driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

CHARGES:               Unit 1 driver was cited for Improper Lane Usage.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
