MCPD Chief: No Wrecks Involving Golf Carts/UTV's Since Legalization
Opponents to legalizing the use of golf carts and UTV’s on Mt. Carmel streets pointed to the dangers of extra traffic on city streets. But, those fears have been unfounded. Since the golf carts and UTV’s became legal on city streets last year, police chief Ryan Turner reports there have been no accidents involving them saying those concerns didn’t match reality.
At Monday’s city council meeting, Turner also reminded golf cart and UTV owners to make sure their permit is up to date. He said a recent check revealed many expired permits. The permits can be renewed by stopping by the police department.
Turner also reported the police department has ordered a new Ford F-150 pickup truck that will be used by the K-9 officer when it arrives in about 10 weeks.
