ISP INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC CRASH WITH INJURY

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 19

WHAT:                      Two Unit Crash with Injury

WHERE:                   Illinois Route 14 just west of County Road 1100E, McLeansboro Township, Hamilton County.

WHEN:                      May 5, 2021 at 6:05 p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1 – Black 1986 Honda GL1200 Motorcycle

                                    Unit 2 – Silver 2010 Ford Edge

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – Tyler D. Morris, a 22-year-old male from Carmi, IL – Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.

                                    Unit 2 – Mary C. Shirley, a 41-year-old female from Carmi, IL - Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling west on Illinois Route 14, just west of County Road 1100E. Unit 2 was traveling east on Illinois Route 14 in the same area.  Unit 1 traveled into the eastbound lane when negotiating a curve.  Unit 1 struck the front of Unit 2 in the eastbound lane. Both drivers were airlifted to regional hospitals with serious injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
