Route One south of Mt. Carmel to the Edwards County line will be resurfaced later this year according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Mayor Joe Judge announced at Monday’s City Council meeting the project will extend from the Greathouse Creek structure on West Third Street in Mt. Carmel southwest all the way to the Edwards County line. A bid letting on the project was held recently and Judge said I-DOT anticipates the working being done late this summer or early this Fall. The project is an extension of work that has already been done on Route 1 from Grayville to the Wabash County line.
