Fairfield Teen Killed In Friday Crash

ISP INVESTIGATES FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12

WHAT:                      Two Unit Fatal Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   US Route 50 at South Main Street, Clay City, Clay County.

WHEN:                      April 30, 2021 at 4:14 p.m.

VEHICLES:              Unit 1 – Silver 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt

                                    Unit 2 – Gray 1994 Chevrolet Van

DRIVERS:                 Unit 1 – Alexis J. Sargent, an 18-year-old female from Fairfield, IL – Pronounced deceased.

                                    Unit 2 – William K. Goluba, a 53-year-old male from Olney, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PASSENGER:           Unit 1 – A 14-year-old male from Fairfield, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling northbound on South Main Street at US Route 50 in Clay City. Unit 2 was traveling eastbound on US Route 50 at the same location. The driver of Unit 1 failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection. Unit 1 was struck by Unit 2 in the driver’s side as Unit 1 drove north across the eastbound lane of US Route 50. The driver of Unit 1 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The passenger of Unit 1 and the driver of Unit 2 were transported by ambulance to an area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.  No further information will be disseminated at this time.
