ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT 

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12

WHAT:                         One Unit Traffic Crash with Injury

WHERE:                   Interstate 57 northbound at milepost 138, Fayette County

WHEN:                      May 11, 2021 at 3:19 p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1 – Red 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

DRIVER:                   Unit 1 – Sherman O. Evans, a 75-year-old male from Gary, IN - Uninjured

PASSENGER:           Unit 1 – Susan Evans, a 65-year-old female from Gary, IN – Transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Interstate 57 at mile post 138 in Fayette County. The Unit 1 driver lost control, veered off the roadway and struck a tree in the right ditch. The Unit 1 passenger was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information will be disseminated at this time.
