ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT  

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by

Illinois State Police District 12 

WHAT:                      Single Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   Illinois 128 just south of 2850 North, Fayette County

WHEN:                      Mar. 14, 2021 at approximately 3:15 p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1- 2020 Blue Tank Truck          

DRIVER:                   Unit 1- Richard Grotts, 49-year-old male from Vandalia, IL – Transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling south on Illinois 128 just south of 2850 North in Fayette County. The driver of Unit 1 ran off the road to the right, struck a ditch and overturned. The driver of Unit 1 was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. According to a witness, Unit 1 was run off the road by a northbound truck that was traveling in the southbound lane. This crash is still under investigation.
