So far, Wabash County Health Department Administrator Judy Wissel said the health department has given 940 COVID vaccines with 500 of those being administered at a clinic last Friday. She said another 500 doses will be given this week.

And as COVID vaccines become more readily available, Wabash General Hospital and the Wabash County Health Department are working together in the distribution. WGH President/CEO Karissa Turner told the hospital board last week how the current vaccine supply chain works… 

Turner said the goal is to get the vaccine distributed quickly… 

Turner said those wanting the vaccine should avoid calling the hospital and call the health department instead. Currently, Wissel said the focus is getting the vaccine to those 65 and older with a clinic set this week for K through 12 educators along with daycare staff. She said as the 65 and older group wraps up, the health department is continuing to add other groups into the schedule.
