On 12/04/21, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Samuel R. Wampler, age 26, of Mt. Carmel, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol following a traffic stop in area of the 900 block of West 5th Street. The officer initiated the stop after observing Wampler commit a violation of the Illinois Vehicle Code. In making contact, the officer found suspicion that Wampler was impaired, so roadside sobriety testing was conducted. The officer noted several clues to indicate impairment, so Wampler was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail. Wampler was processed for DUI before being released on a Notice to Appear in court.
